ABOUT

My expertise is to coach you through the process so you can find the job you love and thrive sooner rather than later.

Being in career transition is right up there with death, divorce and public speaking in terms of being stressful. It can be confusing and overwhelming, especially at the beginning. Most people don’t know where to begin as they’ve been employed for a long time or haven’t searched for a job since leaving school!

My expertise is to coach you through the process so you can find the job you love sooner rather than later. I’ve helped hundreds of professionals from all sectors: human resources, finance, accounting, operations, sales, marketing, purchasing, R&D, IT and HR.

Looking for work or a new role is both an emotional and technical process. I help you address both so you can move forward with more time and energy spent on the search vs. being anxious and nervous for the future.

The person I choose to coach me had to be ‘right’. I needed someone I could trust fully and be open. With Lynn, I felt I could be myself from the first session and I really gained so much! Thank you!!

Emotional & Psychological Landscape

Looking for a new job can feel like a rollercoaster ride. Some days you’re on top of the world, your hands are in the air catching the wind as your hurl down the double dip twister. Other days you’re feeling sick to your stomach and wish you could get off the boomerang circuit – immediately!

This can be stressful, confusing and lonely. We don’t like the unknown and these stressors get in the way of good thinking. All of our fears come to the surface and our confidence begins to waver. What holds us back isn’t laziness but undercurrents of self-doubt, lack of clarity, and out-dated beliefs. When this happens, we avoid taking action, doing the critical activities that move us forward.

That’s where I come in. As someone who has sat across the table from hundreds of people in this situation, I know how to coach and support you. I’ll be your thought partner, the person who listens and helps you clarify your thoughts and feelings. I know how to get you focused and moving in the direction of your goals.

The Technical Job Search

Looking for work is a strategic project just like the ones you’ve successfully tackled at work. Projects that get completed efficiently and with the fewest headaches require clear objectives up front; what exactly do you want to accomplish and how will you do it?

Your plan starts with building a strong communication foundation. Once you define your skills and strengths, get clear on the roles and industries you find exciting, understand the market’s needs and how you meet those needs, you are well on your way to building a strong foundation. Capturing this thinking will help us work together to create an effective positioning statement, resume, networking, and interviewing strategy.

It all begins with getting clear at the beginning and then the rest falls into place. Trust me, I’ve seen it countless times. I’ve worked with people who don’t want to do the self-assessment and reflection upfront and who end up on a corkscrew ride and can’t get off the platform. And I’ve worked with professionals who do the heavy lifting upfront and have a much smoother and pleasant experience.

Einstein believed the quality of the solution you generate is in direct proportion to your ability to identify the problem you hope to solve.

The sobering reality is that, statistically, most of us will find ourselves in career transition throughout our working lives. The McKinsey Global Institute estimates that in the next decade as many as 375 million workers (14% of the global work force) will need to switch not just jobs but entire occupations. Learning how to manage the emotional rollercoaster and how to technically search for a new role could be the best gift you ever give yourself. Ready to go forward?
